A Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) BSB41415 is now the minimum requirement for OHS management in most Australian workplaces. OHSA provides a nationally recognised on-line and face-to-face training program for students to gain this qualification.
The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety training course is the usual minimum requirement for those in Brisbane and Australia who want to commence a career in occupational health & safety. After completing this qualification, you will be able to work as a health and safety practitioner and become responsible for the corresponding WH&S functions within a workplace. Our Cert IV WHS is available online and face to face and applies to Brisbane and Australia wide supervisors, union representatives, safety committee members, safety officers and others who identify and manage WH&S hazards.
The Cert IV in WH&S (BSB41415) is available online and face to face and will teach you how to comply with WH&S legislation, how to identify hazards and how to assess and control risks. You will learn how to contribute to WH&S in a workplace environment, including aiding in the implementation of WH&S strategies to control risks and emergency procedures. Our Certificate IV in WHS is offered face to face in Brisbane and many other regional areas and online Australia wide, and will help you to take that next step in your career, whether it is for up-skilling in your current workplace, or providing you a valuable qualification to pursue an alternative career.

Cert IV WHS duration
Face to Face
Five day classroom based course plus post course assessment submissions. Most of the assessment tasks are usually completed at the 5 Day face to face component of the course.
Obtaining your Certificate IV Online and in Brisbane
Depending on individual background, experience and access to resources, the total hours needed to achieve the WHS qualification may vary, but all learners need to meet the benchmarks detailed in the BSB15 training package. All learners’ activities and assessment tasks have been mapped against the units of competence and meet the performance criteria, critical aspects of evidence and context of assessment to achieve competency.
Students must complete this course within 12 months of enrolment. Students could complete the course self-paced in 3 months, however these following guidelines are provided to assist you to determine your completion timeframe.
11.5hrs/week = 6 months or 5.5hrs/week = 1 year.
To support your studies, you will be provided with qualified trainers, learning materials, telephone and email support. We do not train you and then desert you!
There are no formal pre-requisites for the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety online course or face to face course in Brisbane, although minimum Grade 10 is recommended. You will need to have access to a workplace in order to complete the workplace-based assessments. Alternative arrangements can be made for those in between work or without access to a workplace. On-line courses and off-campus assessments will require students to complete a declaration that they completed the assessment themselves.
