Course Description
This course meets the requirements for 3 yearly re- certification as a Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator in Queensland as specified in the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
Target Audience 
If you have wages in Queensland of $6.507 million for the preceding financial year or are in a high risk industry with wages in Queensland for the preceding financial year of $1.981 million, you must :
| · | have a workplace rehabilitation policy and procedures accredited by Q-COMP which outlines: | |

your commitment to assist injured workers to access necessary treatment and rehabilitation | |

specific steps you will take to achieve safe, timely and durable return to work | |
| · | appoint a rehabilitation and return to work coordinator (RRTWC) registered with Q-COMP who will: | |

initiate early communication with an injured worker | |
|
·
|
develop the suitable duties program with the worker and their employer, in line with the current medical certificate. | |
Course Content 
| · | Assist the employer to discharge legislative obligations as outlined in the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003, including any amendments and apply a working knowledge of this legislation; |
| · | Coordinate the return to the workplace of an injured worker recognising current workplace rehabilitation best practice guidelines; |
| · | Coordinate the development of a policy, procedures and appendices, to manage workplace rehabilitation within their own workplace; |
| · | Raise the awareness of other members of the workforce (supervisors, managers, workers) regarding workplace rehabilitation; |
| · | Identify the practical steps and administrative (paper work) procedures required following the injury of a worker and throughout their rehabilitation; |
| · | Identify the role of key persons involved in the rehabilitation process; |
| · | Communicate with injured workers, management, treating medical practitioners, worker’s compensation insurers’ staff and other key persons involved in the workplace rehabilitation process; |
| · | Establish a plan (or work with an external provider to establish a plan) which meets the needs of an injured worker. |
Course Outcomes 
| · | Apply a working knowledge of the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act and Regulation 2003, (including any amendments); |
| · | Effectively communicate/negotiate with injured workers, management, treating medical practitioners, insurers and other key persons involved in the rehabilitation process; |
| · | Establish and maintain systems for managing workplace rehabilitation at an accredited workplace; |
| · | Identify and know how to implement steps taken following the injury of a worker, with regards to requirements of the insurer’s, the legislation and regulation’s “standard for rehabilitation” ; |
| · | Monitor the effectiveness of individual plans, as well as the overall effectiveness of workplace rehabilitation within the organisation. |
Course Requirements
Module WPR204A must be completed prior to commencement of the face to face course and presented to the course coordinator on (or by) day one of the course.

Assessments & Awards 
Participants who demonstrate competency by passing both the theory and practical assessments during the course will receive a Statement of Attendance from OHSA. Confirmation of attendance and successful completion is then forwarded onto Q-Comp for recording.
Entry Requirements 
The participant is required to have a current qualification as a Workplace Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator issued by Q-COMP.

Conditions of registration & payment for this course 
Conditions
OHSA Occupational Health Services Australia has a fair and equitable Refund Policy guaranteeing the refund of fees to course participants under reasonable circumstances. The management guarantees OHSA’s sound financial position and safeguards clients’ fees until used for learning and assessment.
An organisation or individual may substitute another participant prior to course commencement date at no cost should the nominated person be unable to attend as long as notification is provided in writing prior to commencement of the course. Registration may be transferred to another course or cancelled at no cost up to fifteen working days prior to a course providing notification is in writing.
Transfers to another course or cancellations made between ten and fifteen working days (3 weeks) prior to the commencement of the course must be in writing and will attract a 20% administration fee.
Transfers to another course or cancellations made between five and ten working days (2 weeks) prior to the commencement of the course must be in writing and will attract a 35% administration fee. For cancellations or transfers made inside five working days prior to the commencement of the course, no refund will be issued, however a substitute may attend the course as per Item 1 above. No refunds will be made after the commencement of the course unless the participant provides a medical certificate or can demonstrate extreme personal hardship. In this case, the participant may transfer to a subsequent course at the discretion of management. OHSA reserves the right to cancel or postpone a course to an alternative date. All registered participants affected by such changes will be offered the opportunity to transfer to the next available course program or receive a full refund. Note: Bookings on courses are not guaranteed until payment is received.
Payment
Full payment is required before commencement of training, unless prior arrangements have been made with OHSA Occupational Health Services Australia management or accounts department.
Full payment for courses must be made when submitting your registration request, invoices will be issued to persons/organisations who are paying on behalf of students and must be paid before a student is officially registered.

Proof of Identity Requirement
Participants in accredited training modules must provide proof of identity to the responsible person at OHSA Occupational Health Services Australia, who will sight and verify the evidence on the first day of training, record the type of evidence provided on the attendance sheet and sign the declaration.
