CPCCLRG3002A Licence to perform rigging intermediate level

To perform intermediate rigging duties you need to have an Intermediate rigging – RI high risk work licence.

To apply for an intermediate rigging licence you must hold, or have previously passed assessment for, a dogging licence and basic rigging licence.

The scope of work for intermediate rigging includes:

  • rigging work in the class Basic Rigging
  • all hoists
  • rigging of cranes, conveyors, dredges and excavators
  • tilt-slabs
  • demolition of structures or plant
  • dual lifts.

This unit specifies the outcomes required to perform rigging work at the intermediate level, which includes all the outcomes for rigging work at the basic level, and also includes rigging of cranes, rigging of conveyors, rigging of dredges and excavators, rigging associated with tilt slabs, rigging associated with demolition work, and dual lifts for licensing purposes.

This unit requires the applicant to be able plan the work, select and inspect equipment, set up task, erect structures and plant and dismantle structures and plant.

This unit is based upon the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work.

This unit in its current form meets state and territory licensing requirements. Any alteration will result in a unit which is not acceptable to regulators for the purpose of licensing.

This unit has a pre-requisites requirement. This requirement may be met by either the successful completion of the unit CPCCLRG3001A Licence to perform rigging basic level or holding a valid licence for basic rigging.

Training Provider

Recruitment or prospective learners for this course, as well as training and Assessment services, is provided by On the Job Training Pty Ltd. On the Job Training Pty Ltd, recruits students, provides training and assessment as well as provides support services on behalf of OHSA Occupational Health Services Australia (RTO 31092) under a Third Party Agreement.

According to SafeWork, the license requirements will consist of all basic rigging work plus rigging involving:

  • cranes, conveyors, dredges and excavators
  • tilt slab
  • hoists with jibs and self climbing hoists
  • demolition
  • dual lifts

Students must be 18 years of age at the time of enrolment and hold the unit CPCCLRG3001A Licence to perform rigging basic level or holding a valid licence for basic rigging.

All applicants must not have any physical impairment that may cause safety issues in the workplace, which may include visual or auditory impairment. Students must also be able to communicate in English, hold mathematical skills required for dogging and have sufficient verbal communications skills to have a conversation, in English, in the workplace.

No student will be permitted to undertake the course if they are under the influence of alcohol, an illegal / illicit substance, or impaired by a prescribed medication and other impairment such as fatigue, mental health issue or stress.

With successful completion of the training applicants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for:

Mandatory assessment

With successful completion of the mandatory assessment applicants will be issued with an assessment summary (AS1) and Statement of Attainment (SOA) for the Unit of Competency:

CPCCLRG3002A Licence to perform rigging intermediate level

Licence Application

Successful applicants will receive an assessment summary (AS1) from the accredited assessor and a Statement of Attainment from OHSA. Applicants need to complete the online application for a new Queensland HRW Licence on the Worksafe QLD website.  This must be done within 60 days of successfully completing the practical assessment. The application fee is $92.50 and payable at the time of your application.

Students should retain their AS1 and proof of payment as evidence that they can lawfully perform work in the relevant class of High Risk, pending a decision on your application. Upon lodgement, enquiries regarding your application should be directed to Workplace Health and Safety QLD on phone 1300 369 915.

Training Requirements & What To Bring

  • High Risk Work Licence assessments can only be undertaken at the age of 18 years or over
  • All current High Risk Work Licences
  • Logbooks recording high risk work hours under supervision (if available)
  • Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required prior to course commencement – please bring number to course.
  • Photo ID i.e. Queensland or Interstate Driver’s Licence or Passport
  • Applicants will be required to have a basic knowledge and understanding of the English language
  • PPE must be worn by students attending the course on all occasions. This includes steel cap boots, long pants, long sleeves, (high vis shirt if possible otherwise long sleeves with a high vis vest) and a safety hard hat. For dogging, rigging & scaffolding courses, students are required to bring gloves and safety glasses.
  • OHSA will provide whistles as well as the general training equipment, notes, logbook and training plans, calculators and pens.

The training facilities are comfortable air conditioned with modern training aids. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided as well as fridges and a microwave for participants to use. There are several takeaway lunch spots of good quality within a kilometre. Lunch is not provided with the training.

Students have direct access to all the necessary plant required for the relevant course i.e. Cranes, EWP, Forklifts and Scaffold.  The practical space is representative of a work site with a variety of plant and machinery.

Off and on street parking is available.
