Course Content ...


  • Approved attire for Traffic Controllers;
  • Authority to control traffic;
  • Speed limit for controlling traffic;
  • Responsibility for Traffic Controller Ahead signs;
  • Location of traffic control station;
  • Procedures for controlling traffic;
  • Communication with the public;
  • Two-way radio communications;
  • Controlling traffic at night;
  • Report offenders;
  • Removing or covering signs when not controlling traffic.

Course Outcomes ...


  • On successful completion of this course and on approval of application to Queensland Transport, the trainee will be able to control traffic on a road reserve using a Stop/Slow bat in accordance with legislative requirements and guidelines.

Assessments & Award ...


Participants must demonstrate competency by passing a simulated traffic control practical assessment and a short written questionnaire.

Successful course participants, upon approval of application and with the appropriate fee and a driver’s licence check, will be issued with a ‘Qualified Traffic Controller’ identity card by Queensland Transport which is valid for 3 years.

 

 

Course Requirements ...


An ‘Assessment Report’ will be provided at the conclusion of course.  The participant must forward the report to Queensland Transport with fee of $78.50 for identity card issue.

Entry Requirements ...


If you want to be an accredited traffic controller in Queensland, you must:

  • complete an approved traffic controller training course;
  • have held an Australian or foreign driver licence for a continuous period of 12 months within the last five years;
  • complete a Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme Application form available from QLD Transport, declaring your offence history, your medical fitness and your training qualifications;
  • lodge your application and fee at a Queensland Transport customer service centre -  that conducts industry licensing business.
  • The QLD Transport Information sheet - How to Become an Accredited Traffic Controller - contains information about entry requirements, processes and your requirements and responsibilities as an accredited traffic controller.
