This course is designed for persons seeking accreditation as a Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHSO) who work at a Construction workplace in accordance with the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995.
The course is also suitable for Supervisors and Managers who require understanding of the WHS Legislation and practical OH&S measures for managing safety at a Construction workplace may also wish to attend.
To become an accredited WHSO, participants are required to achieve competency in both the Core Modules and an Elective Module (Services, Industrial or Construction).

This course satisfies the requirements of training as outlined in the Workplace Health & Safety Act 1995 QLD for WHSO’s.

• WHSO/04 Manage Health & Safety in Construction Workplaces

• Satisfy the requirements to qualify as a Workplace Health and Safety Officer;
• Identify and prioritise construction hazards;
• Complete an inspection/assessment report in accordance with best practice;
• Consult with relevant parties regarding compliance issues relating to statutory requirements;
• Assist relevant parties in the implementation of control measures;
• Monitor and review the effectiveness of control measures.

Time restrictions apply upon completion of Functioning as a Workplace Health and Safety Officer. Individuals must complete an industry specific Elective within six (6) months in order to gain their Workplace Health and Safety Officer certification.
