This course is designed for persons who are qualified Workplace Health and Safety Officers (WHSO) and have held that qualification for nearly 5 years.

The Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 states that the WHSO certificate expires after 5 years and the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 1997 states that it may be renewed after satisfactorily completing a re-certification course.

This course satisfies the requirements of training as outlined in the Workplace Health & Safety Act 1995 QLD for re certification for WHSO’s.

Target Audience ...


An employer must appoint and maintain a qualified person as a Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHSO) if 30 or more workers are normally employed at the Workplace. A Principal Contractor (PC) must appoint a WHSO if thirty or more persons work at a workplace during any 24 hour period or if the PC has built more than 30 domestic premises during the previous years. This course is also suitable for supervisors and managers who have a responsibility for the safety of workers.

Assessments & Award ...


Participants who demonstrate competency by passing the assessments will receive a Statement of Attainment ‘Course in Functioning as a Workplace Health and Safety Officer – Re certification (30523QLD)`issued by OHSA.

Participants will also receive a Division of Workplace Health and Safety Assessment Report /Certificate of Authority Application which enables the participant to make application to the Department of Industrial Relations to become a certified Workplace Health and Safety Officer
