Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID001)

Our senior first aid course available in Brisbane and the Gold Coast provides the skills to recognise and then manage a casualty who is unconscious and is not breathing. CPR is a lifesaving technique which can sustain life until an ambulance arrives. OHSA recommends, in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that CPR skills are recertified every 12 months..

Provide basic emergency life support (HLTAID002)

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies, including managing the unconscious casualty, performing CPR, controlling bleeding and managing other life threatening situations. It is suitable to both people in workplaces and members of the public who want to be able to manage an emergency situation.

Provide first aid (HLTAID003)

This course covers a broad range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide a trained response to a casualty. It is suitable to both people in workplaces and members of the public who want training in this field.

Most workplaces require a specific number of people to successfully complete this qualification. OHSA recommends, in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that first aid skills are renewed at least every three years and CPR skills every 12 months.

Course Requirements

Participants should have sufficient literacy and numeracy to read and comprehend instructions at the workplace. Participants will need sufficient physical ability to squat, kneel, bend, lift and carry objects during the practical scenarios i.e. performing CPR on mannequins and performing simulated exercises in the classroom.
