Course Description
This unit of competency covers the skills required to competently operate an EWP to meet WHSQ and industry standards for certification.
The scope of training is to demonstrate competence in operating principles and methods, EWP processes & procedures, workplace communications, safe & responsible environmental practices, the scope and limitations of equipment, load specifications, designs and functions of various EWP’s, pre & post safety checks and maintenance, obtaining work permits and licenses, etc.
Target Audience 
Workers entering or in industry who are required to work at heights in excess 11m.
Course Content 
Candidates will be trained in the following:
- Hazard Identification and response methods
- Methods of nonverbal communication
- Understanding and following instructions
- Appropriate selection and use of;
- Controls & feature,
Settings and operational techniques for the specific settings, specific terrain and weather conditions in day or night without causing damage to machinery, equipment, load, person, property or environment (including soils and property structures).
Course Outcomes 
Trainees will gain the knowledge and skills to safely operate an Elevated Work Platform
Course Requirements
Trainees will provide their own safety boots and work clothes.

Assessments & Awards 
After training and a successful assessment trainees will be given a Statement of Attainment by OHSA and will receive a National operators Licence from WHSQ. W.P. Work Platform (Boom 11 metres or more).
Entry Requirements 
Adequate numeracy, literacy and English communication skills to do simple calculations, write legibly and be understood. Have sufficient physical strength and dexterity to do safety checks and basic maintenance, set up and dismantle the EWP and operate the EWP as required.

Conditions of registration & payment for this course 
Conditions
OHSA Occupational Health Services Australia has a fair and equitable Refund Policy guaranteeing the refund of fees to course participants under reasonable circumstances. The management guarantees OHSA’s sound financial position and safeguards clients’ fees until used for learning and assessment.
An organisation or individual may substitute another participant prior to course commencement date at no cost should the nominated person be unable to attend as long as notification is provided in writing prior to commencement of the course. Registration may be transferred to another course or cancelled at no cost up to fifteen working days prior to a course providing notification is in writing.
Transfers to another course or cancellations made between ten and fifteen working days (3 weeks) prior to the commencement of the course must be in writing and will attract a 20% administration fee.
Transfers to another course or cancellations made between five and ten working days (2 weeks) prior to the commencement of the course must be in writing and will attract a 35% administration fee. For cancellations or transfers made inside five working days prior to the commencement of the course, no refund will be issued, however a substitute may attend the course as per Item 1 above. No refunds will be made after the commencement of the course unless the participant provides a medical certificate or can demonstrate extreme personal hardship. In this case, the participant may transfer to a subsequent course at the discretion of management. OHSA reserves the right to cancel or postpone a course to an alternative date. All registered participants affected by such changes will be offered the opportunity to transfer to the next available course program or receive a full refund. Note: Bookings on courses are not guaranteed until payment is received.
Payment
Full payment is required before commencement of training, unless prior arrangements have been made with OHSA Occupational Health Services Australia management or accounts department.
Full payment for courses must be made when submitting your registration request, invoices will be issued to persons/organisations who are paying on behalf of students and must be paid before a student is officially registered.

Proof of Identity Requirement
Participants in accredited training modules must provide proof of identity to the responsible person at OHSA Occupational Health Services Australia, who will sight and verify the evidence on the first day of training, record the type of evidence provided on the attendance sheet and sign the declaration.
