Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) / Recognition of current Competencies (RCC)
|
| RPL and RCC programs are offered for TAE40110 Certificate IV in training and Assessment. Any student who can provide evidence of competency for the units offered within the qualification either from the previous BSZ or TAA courses, or imported units from other training packages will be offered credits towards the TAE qualification. At enrolment students will be provided with this option and may discuss with the trainer any evidence they have which will assist them to apply for an RPL. |
RPL Explained
|
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is defined in a number of ways. The key notion is that RPL involves the assessment of previously unrecognised skills and knowledge that an individual has achieved outside the formal education and training system. RPL assesses this unrecognised learning against the requirements of the qualification, in respect of both entry requirements and the outcomes to be achieved. By removing the need for duplication of learning, RPL encourages an individual to continue upgrading their skills and knowledge, through structured education and training, towards formal qualifications and improved employment outcomes.
Under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) each qualification Guideline provides for an RPL pathway as an ‘alternative’ or ‘non-institutional’ access point or source of credit. This keeps the system of qualifications open to recognition of the value of learning achieved outside the formal system, as part of everyday living in a continuum of learning throughout one’s life. |
What to expect with the Australian Mastery Learning Academy’s RPL program.
|
RPL can be applied to some or all of your qualification, i.e. some units of competency in a certificate program or the practical experience required to complete a unit of competency.
You will be provided with a request for evidence of your experience in the form of a check list identifying the skills and knowledge that you must have to be competent in one or more of the units of competency. This evidence may include logbooks, supervisor reports, letters from management, other similar qualifications, etc. All evidence must be authenticated if not presented as an original document.
A trainer will evaluate the evidence that you present and contact you to discuss what towards the full qualification and what is still to be done to complete the program. BSZ qualification are first be upgraded to the TAA qualification and then to the TAE qualification. |
