Upon successful completion, students will receive a:

Confirming they have completed a course approved by  Workers’ Compensation Regulatory Services (WCRS) to provide RRTWCs with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform the functions of the RRTWC role as prescribed in the Queensland legislation.

Note: Due to the requirements of this regulator-approved course, we are unable to offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator (RRTWC) Online Course – Queensland

The Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator (RRTWC) Online Course provides structured training on managing workplace injuries and coordinating return-to-work programs. Approved by  Workers’ Compensation Regulatory Services, this course combines flexible online learning with experienced assessors, so you can gain practical skills from across Australia.

The curriculum is designed to meet the statutory requirements outlined in the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 (QLD) and Regulation 2025 (QLD).

Should students wish to receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SOA) for BSBWHS417 Assist with managing the WHS implications of return to work, they will need to complete an additional short RRTWC Gap Assessment and pay a fee of $150.  This is not mandatory to be a return to work coordinator in Qld.

Course Requirements & Eligibility

To ensure all participants can successfully complete the QLD Workers’ Compensation Regulator-approved online RRTWC training, please review the following enrolment criteria and technical requirements.

GENERAL ENROLMENT CRITERIA

Prerequisites: There are no formal prerequisite qualifications required to book this course.

• Age Requirement: Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
• Literacy Skills: Students must be able to read, write, and comprehend English at a level sufficient to understand legal compliance documentation and engage in clear verbal communication.
• Visa Status: Due to national training regulations, students must not be on an international student visa or be the dependent/partner of someone on a student visa.

ONLINE COURSE EXPECTATIONS

Unlike the face-to-face course, the online RRTWC combines flexible, self-paced learning with a short call with an assessor.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS (For Online Delivery)

To access the online learning portal and participate in the required assessor sessions, all students must have access to:

• A PC or laptop (the platform is not optimised for mobile phones alone).
• A working webcam/FaceTime or similar conferencing software.

• What is a Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator (RRTWC)? An RRTWC is an employee appointed to coordinate the return‑to‑work process for injured or ill workers, working with the worker, medical professionals, employers and insurers to ensure safe, compliant outcomes.
• Is this course approved for RRTWC roles in Queensland? Yes. Completion of this training results in a course certificate approved by the Workers’ Compensation Regulatory Services, demonstrating the skills and knowledge needed to perform the role.
• Can I complete this RRTWC training online? Yes. This online RRTWC course combines self‑paced learning, offering maximum flexibility.
• How long does the online course take to complete? The course is self‑paced. Students typically complete reading and assessments at their own pace.  The timeframe to complete the course will vary depending on the student’s current knowledge and experience; however, it is recommended that students set aside 8 hours.  All course activities must be submitted within 6 weeks of enrolment.
• Will I receive a certificate? Upon successful completion, you receive a Statement of Completion for the online RRTWC course to confirm you meet the requirements to be a RRTWC in Qld. If you require the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SOA – BSBWHS417 Assist with managing the WHS implications of return to work), you can complete a separate Gap Assessment for an additional fee of $150.
