Upon successful completion of all assessment tasks, participants will be awarded a certificate to demonstrate they have completed an approved Workers’ Compensation Regulatory Services (WCRS) course and therefore meet the requirements of s41 of the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 (Qld).

Upon successful completion of the 1-day training, you will be issued a Certificate of Completion. This acts as your official evidence that you have completed a course approved by the Queensland Workers’ Compensation Regulator.

PATHWAY 2: NATIONALLY RECOGNISED UNIT (OPTIONAL UPGRADE)

For professionals seeking a qualification recognised across all of Australia, you can opt to attain the Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment (SOA). This unit specifically assists with managing the broader Work Health and Safety (WHS) implications of returning an injured worker to the job.  This upgrade is NOT required to be a RRTWC in Qld.

• Requirements: Completion of a short, post-course RRTWC Gap Assessment.  (Assessment consists of approximately 20 short-answer and case-study response-type questions)
• Additional Fee: $150.00.
• Best for: HR and WHS professionals looking to add a nationally recognised competency to their resume, or organisations operating across multiple Australian states.

Course Requirements & Eligibility

To ensure all participants can successfully achieve their QLD Workers’ Compensation Regulator-approved RRTWC certification, please review the following enrollment requirements.

GENERAL ENROLLMENT CRITERIA

• Prerequisites: None. There are no prior qualifications or workplace skills required to book this course.
• Age Requirement: Participants must be 18 years or older to enrol. OHSA does not provide training for individuals under the age of 18.
• English Literacy: Students must possess sufficient English literacy to read, write, and comprehend legal compliance documentation.
• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills are required, including word processing and the ability to access and navigate internet resources.
• Visa Status: Due to training regulations, students must not be on an international student visa or be the partner/dependent of someone on a student visa.

COURSEWORK & ASSESSMENT EXPECTATIONS

• Mandatory Pre-course assessment: Upon booking, you will receive pre-reading activities and initial assessment questions. These must be completed prior to attending the course.
• Assessment Timeframes: While the majority of the practical assessment is completed during class time, some learners may require additional time. Any post-course assessment work must be finalised and returned to the RTO within six (6) weeks for marking.
• Note: Pre-course assessment should take approximately 30 minutes.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS (FOR VIRTUAL DELIVERY VIA ZOOM)

If face-to-face (F2F) delivery is not viable for you, we offer highly interactive, flexible delivery via Zoom (look for ‘Zoom’ on the advertised course dates). To participate in required role-plays and group discussions, virtual students must have:

• A reliable, high-speed internet connection.
• A PC or laptop with a working webcam (must remain on during class).
• A working microphone or headset.
• A quiet, distraction-free environment.

FITNESS FOR DUTY & CLASSROOM POLICY

Safety starts in the classroom. No student will be permitted to undertake the course or any session if they are impaired. This includes being under the influence of alcohol, illegal/illicit substances, or experiencing impairment from prescribed medication, or severe fatigue.

• What is a Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator (RRTWC)? A Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator (RRTWC) is responsible for supporting injured workers to safely return to work and ensuring employers meet their obligations under Queensland workers’ compensation legislation.
• Who needs to complete RRTWC training in Queensland? Please visit Regulation 149 for up-to-date requirements.  High-risk workplaces with wages in Qld in excess of 2600 times QOTE, or other workplaces with wages in excess of 5200 times QOTE per year, are required by law to appoint a trained Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator.
• Can I complete the RRTWC training online? Yes. The course is available both online (self-paced), virtual learning or face to face in Brisbane or Gold Coast. This flexibility allows you to choose the delivery method that best suits your schedule.
• How long does the Zoom RRTWC course take to complete? The training is usually delivered over one full day with Zoom and in-person attendance. A brief pre-course assessment must also be completed. Although most of the practical assessment is done during class, some learners might need additional time. Any post-course assessment work must be finalised and submitted to the RTO within six (6) weeks for marking.
• Do I receive a certificate after completing the training? Yes. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Statement of Completion. Should students wish to receive the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (SOA), which assists with managing the WHS implications of return to work, they must complete an additional short RRTWC Gap Assessment.
• Is this course nationally recognised or QLD-specific? The RRTWC course is specific to Queensland and aligned with  QLD requirements. Other states and territories may have different return-to-work obligations.
• What are the entry requirements for the RRTWC training? There are no formal prerequisites. However, participants should have good communication skills and an understanding of workplace processes.
• Can I apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL)? There is no RPL for the WCRS-approved course.
