The TAE40116 is the new standard for trainer and assessors in the AQF VET sector. Achievement of this qualification or an equivalent is the new requirement of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTO.)

Provided you hold the older TAE40110 qualification this upgrade is for you, you do not need to complete the whole qualification again, this upgrade converts your TAE40110 qualification to the new TAE40116 qualification in 3 days with self paced study.

The main differences between TAE40110 and TAE40116 are:
The qualification packaging rules of the TAE40116 have changed. There are now 9 core units, of which TAELLN411 and TAEASS502 are now included. There is now only 1 elective. The 2 core units from the old TAE40110, TAEASS401B/TAEASS403B are not equivalent to the new TAE40116 units TAEASS401 and TAEASS403 so this upgrade addresses these differences.

This TAE Upgrade program is a critical step for existing trainers and assessors. Trainers and assessors who possess the older TAE40110 qualification will have until 1 April 2019 to meet the new credential requirements. In July 2017, Skills Ministers agreed to update the training and assessment credential requirements in line with the changes to the TAE Training Package, to ensure the VET workforce has appropriate skills in designing and developing assessment tools and identifying and evaluating LLN requirements. The course is focused on assessment design and validation practices.

The course includes gap training and assessment of the following two (2) upgraded and two (2) new units:

TAEASS401  Plan assessment activities and processes
TAEASS403  Participate in assessment validation
TAEASS502  Design and develop assessment tools
TAELLN411 A ddress adult language, literacy and numeracy skills

If you have already completed any of these units, you will be granted a credit transfer and may finish the course earlier.

‘According to the Skills Ministers, trainers and assessors have until 1 April 2019 to meet the new credential requirements. https://www.education.gov.au/trainer-and-assessor-credential-requirements. To achieve the new requirements, completion AND submission of appropriate and relevant assessment work must be made and deemed competent.   Due to the high volume of assessment submissions, where submissions are made on or around the 30th March 2019, there may be a delay in assessments being marked.  Assessments will be managed in order of submission time/date received.  Once submissions have been assessed as competent, our partnering RTO will process and issue the upgrade paperwork directly.  The date of your assessment submission may impact the date of receipt of your upgrade paperwork, which may be after the 1st April, 2019.  If you are a current VET practitioner please refer to your RTO for further advice about training and assessing restrictions within your organisation.’

This course is essentially for those who hold a TAE40110 qualification and wish to upgrade to the new TAE40116 qualification or Cert IV TAE.

TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent and have access to a resources work site to complete the post course port-folio of evidence.
