LV Rescue & CPR

Undertaking and successfully completing this course will provide students with the following two units of competency:

  • UETDRRF004 Perform rescue from a live LV panel
  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This course is the latest update for the competency formerly known as Low Voltage Rescue course LVR001, which is an industry recognised course designed to ensure that students continue to maintain currency, skills and knowledge with regard to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and low voltage rescue (LVR) competencies.

This course applies to all workers who require knowledge and skill in performing rescue procedures from live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus in the work place and specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how to apply it in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It includes knowledge and skill required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. This course does not include high voltage overhead lines and underground cables.

Industry standards for refresher training vary from state to state, however, most states recommend refresher training for these two units every 12 months. Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 (Qld) requires this training to be undertaken at least every 12 months.
