This course will provide students with a safety qualification, enabling the graduate to fulfil the role of WHS Officer / Supervisor or Manager in an organisation. Students will be taught by real WHS Professionals with a wealth of real-life and current experience across a broad range of industry sectors.

This qualification is suitable for people who coordinate and maintain the Work Health and Safety (WHS) program in an organisation. It also reflects the role of practitioners who apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts.

The course is designed to be delivered via an intensive study mode, with additional learning to absorb the content through self-study after the course. As such, the course is delivered using a blended approach, which includes an initial five (5) day classroom-based component plus the additional post-course reading and assessment submissions.

The course is expected to take students approximately 450 hours to complete, including the 5-day intensive component. Students must complete this course within 18 months of enrolment.

The total hours needed to achieve the BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety may vary depending on individual background, experience, and access to resources, but all learners must meet all the requirements as outlined in each unit of competency.

The following is a guide to assist students in determining their completion timeframe. Based on the approximate 410 hours post-intensive component, studying for 15.7 hours/week = 6 months to complete the post-course, 7.9 hours/week = 1 year, and 5.4 hours/week = 1.5 years or 18 months.

To support students’ studies, qualified trainers, learning materials, and telephone and email support will be provided.
