To work on a construction site in Australia, you must complete General Construction Induction Training and hold a White Card β itβs the law under WorkSafe Queensland requirements.

This course provides comprehensive instruction in:

This course ensures all participants have the foundational knowledge to work safely, comply with WHS laws, and use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly, making it essential for all construction site personnel.
The Construction White Card (CPCWHS1001 β Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry) course covers essential knowledge and practical skills to ensure you can work safely on any construction site.
Participants will learn about:
Introduction to construction work β understanding the building and construction industry
Occupational health and safety legislative requirements β knowing your rights and responsibilities
Hazard identification and risk management β spotting risks and controlling hazards on site
Safe work practices β correct procedures for construction tasks and emergency responses
Personal protective equipment (PPE) β correct selection, use, and maintenance of helmets, safety boots, eye and ear protection, and high-visibility clothing
Incident reporting and emergency procedures β how to respond to accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions
Practical exercises and assessments β applying knowledge in real-world construction scenarios
Training Delivery:

Outcome:
Upon completion, participants receive a Statement of Attainment and a White Card, recognised nationally, enabling them to legally work on construction sites across Australia.
To enrol in the Construction White Card (CPCWHS1001) course, participants must meet the following requirements:
1. Identification Requirements (100 Points)
In line with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland regulations, participants must provide 100 points of identification on the first day of training. Acceptable documents include:
Australian Driver’s Licence, Passport, or QLD-issued 18+ Card
Medicare Card
Financial institution debit or credit card (must be sighted; copies of other documents will be taken)
Important: Failure to provide the required identification may result in the participant being unable to attend training. Please contact our office if you have any questions about meeting the ID requirements.
2. Age Requirement
Participants must be 18 years or older to enrol in any of our nationally accredited safety training programs.
OHSA does not provide training for individuals under the age of 18.
These requirements ensure compliance with national safety training standards and allow participants to receive their White Card upon successful completion of the course.
1. What is a White Card?
A White Card is the nationally recognised certification required to work on construction sites in Australia. It demonstrates that you have completed General Construction Induction Training (CPCWHS1001).
2. Who needs a White Card?
Anyone who wants to work on a construction site, including labourers, tradespeople, apprentices, site supervisors, and managers, must hold a valid White Card.
3. Are White Cards valid in all states and territories?
Yes. Queensland White Cards are accepted throughout Australia. Additionally, the following construction induction cards are recognised in Queensland and vice versa:
Victoria Construction Induction Card
New South Wales Construction Induction Card
Australian Capital Territory Construction Induction Card
South Australia Construction Induction Card
Tasmania Construction Induction Card
Western Australia Construction Induction Card
Northern Territory Construction Induction Card
4. How long is the course?
The Construction White Card course typically takes half a day (approximately 5 hours), including theory and practical assessments.
5. Where is the training held?
Training is delivered face-to-face at OHSAβs Brisbane and Gold Coast training centres.
6. What are the entry requirements?
Participants must be at least 18 years old and provide 100 points of identification as per WorkSafe Queensland regulations.
7. What documents can I use for identification?
Acceptable documents include an Australian Driverβs Licence, Passport, QLD 18+ Card, Medicare Card, or debit/credit card (must be sighted).
8. What will I learn in this course?
You will learn about workplace health and safety legislation, hazard identification, risk management, safe work practices, PPE use, and incident reporting.
9. Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Upon successful completion, participants receive a Statement of Attainment and a White Card, recognised across Australia.
10. What happens if I forget my ID on the day of training?
Failure to provide the required identification may prevent you from attending the course. Contact OHSA in advance if you have questions about meeting the ID requirements.
