Undertaking and successfully completing this course will provide students with the following unit of competency, commonly referred to in the industry as the S11, or Standard 11:
RIIERR203E : Escape from hazardous situations unaided
This online Standard 11 Surface Underground program has been developed by the Resources Training Council to meet the Mining Legislation requirement that mining competencies be REFRESHED at least every 5 years. OHSA is licensed with RTC to deliver this course. This course is offered face to face or now online (in response to COVID19).
The Standard 11 (S11) Mining Induction (correctly known as the Generic OHS Induction from Appendix 3 in the Qld Department of Natural Resources and Mines ‘Recognised Standard 11 – Training in Coal Mines ) is a required course for new starters to work on a mine in Queensland. This course exceeds the requirements of most other interstate mining induction requirements (however you should always check first with the mine about any specific requirements they may have).
This course covers both coal and metalliferous mines. The Standard 11 Mine Safety Induction (Underground) REFRESHER course is typically delivered face-to-face – however, due to the current issues with COVID 19 Coronavirus, the Resources Training Council have agreed to temporarily allow this course to be delivered online with a 2.5 hr practical workshop. However, if due to social distancing and ‘lock-down’, attendance to small group practical workshops is not possible, the student may then complete a scheduled zoom, webcam or face time simulated demonstration with the trainer / assessor.
There are THREE (3) pathways (options) for you to REFRESH your Standard 11 Underground Induction.
Option 1: Do Course ONLINE and PHYSICALLY come to small group practicals.
Receive RTC Card and Statement of Attainment (this is the usual process, except sessions are temporarily delivered and assessed online and participant attends F2F small group 2.5hr practical workshops).
Option 2: Do Course ONLINE and complete practical via WEB BASED simulation conferencing with trainer / assessor one on one.
Receive RTC Card and Statement of Attainment (this is the temporary process, with sessions and theory delivered / completed online and the practical tasks demonstrated at the small group 2.5hr workshops or discussed via webcam video conferencing if student is unable to attend the practical workshops).
Option 3: Do Course ONLINE and at a LATER date PHYSICALLY attend the PRACTICALS or complete the WEB BASED simulation conferencing with trainer / assessor one on one.
Receive RTC Card and Statement of Completion with COVID19 Notice (this is the temporary process, with sessions and theory delivered / completed online and the practical tasks that have not yet been demonstrated listed on your Statement of Completion with a COVID19 Notice. Once the practicals have been completed a Statement of ATTAINMENT will be issued without the COVID19 Notice).
If you wish to attend our practical workshops, please contact our office for dates, times and locations.
If you wish to conduct simulated exercises by Zoom, Facetime / Webcam etc with our trainer / assessor you will need to have access to a SCSR or we will have one and you can explain to us how to do select, inspect and fit a SCSR. You will also need to show photo ID at the commencement of your zoom / facetime / webcam session and be able to answer random questions about the online course before you are allowed to commence the practical workshop or commence the webcam / facetime session. This is to verify that you completed the course by yourself.
Those wishing to work underground will need to do the elective Standard 11 Surface course REFRESHER which is also currently being allowed to be completed with an online theory and practical workshop.
