This NEW Refresher Program has been developed  to meet the Mining Legislation requirement that mining competencies be refreshed at least every 5 years. OHSA is one of the largest providers of the INDUSTRY RECOGNISED ‘Standard 11 Generic OH&S Induction’ which is the training identified by the Queensland Mining Inspectorate for new starters to work on a mine in Qld. This course exceeds most other State mining general safety induction requirements. This course covers both coal and metalliferous mines.

This course is for persons who:

  1. Hold a previous Standard 11 Surface Mining Induction Card and Statement of Attainment issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) – dated within 5 years.
  2. Provide evidence of attendance to mine sites over the previous 5 years. Sufficient evidence may include Letters of Appointment, Payslips, Site Transcripts, Site Inductions or Site Cards, Letters of Testimony by your employer or manager etc.
  3. However, if the Standard 11 Surface Mining Induction Card and the Statement of Attainment are older than 5 years, the applicant will need to be able to provide sufficient evidence of recent / current (previous 1 year) work experience / site visits in the resources sector.

Students must hold a previous Standard 11 Surface Mining Induction Card and Statement of Attainment issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) within the past 5 years and provide sufficient evidence of work history in the resources sector during that period.

However, if the Statement of Attainment and Standard 11 Surface Mining Induction Card is older than 5 years, the applicant will need to be able to provide evidence of recent / current (previous 1 year) work experience / site visits in the resources sector.

Sufficient evidence may include Letters of Appointment, Payslips, Site Transcripts, Site Inductions or Site Cards, Letters of Testimony by your employer or manager etc.

Participants must provide their USI number (see www.usi.gov.au) at enrolment and bring along to the course valid photographic identification (i.e. driver’s licence, passport).

Closed shoes must also be worn and you should bring long sleeved clothing for the fire fighting.

Participants should have sufficient literacy and numeracy to read and comprehend instructions for safety at the workplace.

Participants will need sufficient physical ability to attend a classroom based course, perform CPR floor demonstration exercises and lift and carry approximately 10kg fire extinguisher to extinguish a fire.
